toast me a little jesus
by Zach Kincaid
Jesus is a name that wields a gavel and a voting box and fishy auto bling and Colorado Springs pilgrimages to prepare for Sunday justice with a psychiatrist turned radio jock... Many churches - with their coffee bars and branded, survey tested worship styles - bring market values to measure rates of success and viability.

keep on/no peek
by Ron Friedman
Think for one sec on last year’s Vee Tech kill spree. Can’t, can you? Don’t wan tuh, do ya? Can’t blame you. Seems too far flung to fling back in the face. “I think we’re realizing right now, the film had an enormous impact on popular cultural aesthetics, on cyber-punk literature as well as film. You can see a direct line between Blade Runner and Akira, Ghost in the Shell, and The Matrix, for example. It had a huge influence on the sort of backlit, high-contrast lighting of the 80s.”

- Doug Cummings in the December entry, “Blade Runner Revisited”

wonder & imagination: heschel
by Zach Kincaid
(part 2) We could go on here and ask about why God got caught in cloud and a pillar in the olds days and only found feet in the person of Jesus or why those same clouds carried Jesus off and we’re left with a comforter that brings fire a little closer – to heads at Pentecost – for a moment – and is said to enter the depths of a person. God can’t be caught, yet we are invited to chase him.
