OBJECTIVE:

For many years, I have been designing, building, and repairing assorted electronic devices, as my profession and as my hobby.
My foundation as an Electronics teacher has given me a firm understanding of today's computer and Internet technologies.
Since 2001, I have focused my energy on all Apple products, and many Wireless Internet Devices.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Private Consulting Services. 09/2007 to Present
Built and maintained (and relocated three times) the entire network infrastructure. Network devices I maintained include
a Cisco 7206-VXR router and many Cisco and HP Procurve switches. This included assigning IP addresses and IP names for my LANs.
To maintain a healthy network, I would perform network statistical and
bandwidth analysis using SNMP and then graph the data with MRTG. Monitored, tuned,
and troubleshoot LAN and WAN problems with assorted network sniffers
such as NAI Sniffer, EtherPeek, Ethereal, and TCPdump. Used assorted
Intrusion Detection Systems such as Snort, cLOG, and nTop to secure my
LANs. Monitored and maintained the network using web-based tools such as Big Brother.
Built, installed, and maintained assorted Apache based web servers. Performed security audits and forensic
analysis on personal computers and servers.
On a daily basis, I would troubleshoot all types of hardware and software problems on all current operating systems and platforms.
Examples include: NetBSD on Sparc, FreeBSD on IBM-PCs, Solaris on
Sparc, Red Hat LINUX on IBM-PCs, DGUX on Data General, Microsoft Clients and Servers from MS-DOS to Vista,
Apple Macintosh OS-X and Amiga computers. Managed the security access system for the regional computer room facility.
