A Dark Day for Children of the 80’s
Thursday, June 25, 2009
On my way to work today I heard the news that Farrah Fawcett had died. I texted my best friend about her death. Then after lunch I heard from a patient that Michael Jackson was dead. We all rushed to the internet to confirm the news. My heart sank. I had no real relationship with either Farrah or Michael, but as a child they were both iconic figures in my life. I had planned a blog post in
Extra Virgin
Sunday, May 3, 2009
Perhaps you’ve read about olive oil fraud. Most likely you haven’t. Essentially, much of the extra virgin olive oil imported to the United States is in fact not extra virgin at all. In fact some of it is downright whorish! Some of it isn’t even olive oil! It might be second or third pressing mixed with first pressing. Or it might be canola or soybean oil with some clorophyll added for color.

The ‘sploded Potato

After surviving another Friday the 13th, Carisa and I decided to try out the Happy Hour at radioMILANO and return to La Grande Orange for some of their outstanding pizza. The Happy Hour was a stellar deal. Our tab for 6 top shelf cocktails and an appetizer was a mere $32, a steal by PHX standards. First let me say that I applaud radioMILANO for their cocktail selections. I’m somewhat picky when

Highlights of my trip to Los Angeles for T.T.’s Birthday. Short and Sweet. In Friday night, Out Sunday afternoon. Sushi, inadvertant shoplifting, 2 lbs of steak tartare and 13 empty bottles in between. The best part was spending time with my people. And being the World’s best Cuzzunkle!
A funny sign.
Utah Nuttiness
Tuesday, February 3, 2009
Utah is a pretty, great state, at least according to their tourism board. But as a native utahn, I am always keenly aware that is also a pretty nutty state!
Local Brew

Always a sucker for clever packaging I happened upon this simian themed stout at BevMo while shopping for some beer for Sam’s Superbowl party. I’ve been burned before so I got a backup sixpack of Guinness just in case. But Nimbus has the quality to back up their eyecatching packaging. I found myself going though all six nimbus stouts then turnung to Guinness only to want more Nimbus. And I LOVE
Thanks Mom & Dad!
Monday, January 26, 2009
Happy Birthday to me! I just wanted to take a moment to thank my mom and dad for an especially great Birthday dinner! All my favorites- Ribeye steaks, garlic mashed potatoes and coconut cupcakes. Just in case you don’t know my mom and dad, they are some of the most generous, down to earth and hardworking people you will ever meet. They have always done everything they can to make the world a
Reindeer Games
Monday, December 1, 2008
Nothing says “Merry Christmas” like a pair of robotic reindeer. So here is the tale of my Cybernetic card of Christmas past from the future to the world. It’s a tale of excitement. And danger. From the Darkside. Prepare to be underwhelmed. Special messages for my Japanese readers!
The Tao of Pier 1

When I first moved in with Carisa, there was an ornamental iron wall hanging leaning against the wall in the hallway. It still had the tags and protective cardboard pieces on the corners. I offered to help hang it up but she said it was missing some hardware to hang it with. I examined it to see if I could improvise a way to hang it without this mysterious “hardware.” After all, I had inherited
Food Blog Updates & Other Tangents
Wednesday, October 15, 2008
So WilCulture.com has been taking a back seat to my food blog. Maybe it’s because I’m forced to spend so much time away from home, between work, school, and all the other day to day tasks, I really have little time to party. Thanks to Carisa, I did make it to the Brookside last weekend and got to spend some long overdue quality time with Jen B(Sugarpants), we didn’t get to dance but we did
Urine Trouble!
Monday, September 15, 2008
On a typical Monday most of us go through the ritual of asking our co-workers how their weekend was and beguile them with tales of our own Friday-Saturday-Sunday misadventures. Well here is how I spent my weekend: Collecting every single drop of urine that came out of my body! No, I’m not into “watersports.” Actually I’ve been suffering from kidney stones for the last couple of years and my
The Little Move
Sunday, June 15, 2008
So I finally moved in with Carisa. It involved nearly a year of discussing and planning, but only a day of actually moving stuff. Tomorrow I’ll be lounging in the pool. And pulling weeds. Not! Maybe next weekend.
