TV: Over There

While everyone else deals with their problems from home, Sgt. Scream does not even use all the phone credit the army gives him. By the end of season one he faces resignation or a future in Iraq. What would you choose? Watch the whole season of Over There and his choice will make a lot of sense. I will not say what it is so you will have to rent the DVDs to see for yourself.

This is special. I do not recall any other US television series set in a present war. Viewers love war drama, if it deals with the past. The time difference separates us from horrible feeling of war. Over There is similar to prison-drama Oz; it shows you what could be going on right now. I would not want to be in that platoon but I do want them to survive.

A second season of Over There is not going to happen and not because the war is ending; the FX Network cancelled production due to low ratings. The DVD collection deserves to do well; all episodes were absorbing and I could sit through another marathon of the whole series.
