Our House has come to mean so much more than just a TV series. Thanks to the Niall Mellon Township Trust, Development Bank of South Africa, City of Cape Town, Mayor Helen Zille, Game, the 1,380 Irish Volunteers and the families of Freedom Park, Our House is a home where people from different walks of life come together to change the lives of everyone involved.

The challenge was anything but simple - build 200 houses in 7 days! And for the four Our House teams, build 8 of those houses, also in 7 days! On top of this, we had to shoot 13 episodes, two episodes per day! The challenge was met, and where there were once shacks and despair, there is now hope and homes.

On the last day of the shoot there was not a dry eye on the set. It was as if we had all gone through a brave and beautiful war together - and indeed we had. We fought for dignity, and the battle was won. The war may continue, but it is our hope that Our House will inspire others to take up arms, and tools, and bring an end to poverty and despair forever!
