In December, 2007, I moderated an expert panel on Film Production Incentives at the Directors Guild of America.  One of our panelists, MaryAnn Hughes of Walt Disney Pictures, shared some great insights on how to avoid making mistakes in evaluating and implementing state incentives.  MaryAnn kindly agreed to let me share her “checklist” with people in our production community.  We all benefit from sharing these “do’s and don’ts”.

It is important to be aware of the nuances for each state and have a “win-win” situation for both the production and the state where we make our film.  Everyone’s success will help ensure these incentives continue and help us make our movies.
