Folks:
I've been deep in the tedious aspects of making buttons for a UI that uses Zav's four button handlers. Zav kindly gave me his button maker, which is very cool. I've also learned how to use Fireworks' button making tools, which are powerful and flexible. One of the strengths of Zav's button maker is that it exports just the buttons, named correctly for his handlers, and makes the import very easy. One of the strengths of the Fireworks button making system is that it lets you do any kind of button you can think of,with shadows, etc, and it works great if you build the complete interface at one time. The drawback is that it doesn't name things according to Zav's button naming conventions, and when you import, you get all of the slices. I'll probably create an import script that renames and just picks out the button graphics that are named according to Fireworks conventions.
Zav, thanks for your instructions on this.
I'm interested in how you handle dropdown menus.
Regards,
Bill
