A long time ago (1998) I created a windowing system and then lost all the code when two hard drives crashed within a week of each other. Hooray for backups!
However, with this under by belt, the last lesson of using a sprite server to display a dialog, was rather straightforwards. What became obvious to me in 2005, was that these dialogs are merely complex controls that simply look and act like a dialog. What if we don't disable all the clickable items when we display a dialog? And what if we change the shape of our button graphics and display them right below the previous one?
OMF! WTG! We've got popup/pulldown menus.
Well dang. With that type of thinking, we could have popup menus that go up/down/left/right. The awesome thing is that when you click on a menu, it draws things that pretty much act like my buttons do but with a rectangular background.
DANG SISTA! We gots yo pulldown menus right here g!
Here's a sample of what I'm talking about.
Sweet?
