For those of you who don’t know what a Company First SGT  Does, here is what I understand.  He takes care of the enlisted men.  In what ever it is they need.  Everything from the beans and bullets to the private time using the phone or computer in his office to call home.  

 

One of the many jobs is supporting the Company Commander, Captain Tegge.  Out in the field he is also the primary bullet catcher... I mean that in a good way.  He is looking to draw the enemies fire so the “Joes’ can action on them.  

 

Both my mother and father told me something that I follow to this day.  They said, “Show me a persons friends and I can describe that persons character.  1st SGT Volke and Captain Tegge are two men I would hope my friends reflect their integrity and personal drive to do the right thing.  

 

 

I haven’t always pressed my self to follow these examples as much as I would have liked to admit.  But since my marriage and the birth of my sons I have strived to achieve this each and everyday... for them.
