Want to try a variation of the classic Manhattan? Give one of these a whirl:


Dry Manhattan — 2 ounces straight rye whiskey or bourbon, 1 ounce dry vermouth, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, lemon twist (for garnish). Stir with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Add lemon twist.


Perfect Manhattan — 2 ounces straight rye whiskey or bourbon, 1/2 ounce sweet vermouth, 1/2 ounce dry vermouth, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, maraschino cherry (for garnish). Stir with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Add cherry.


Rob Roy — 2 ounces scotch whisky, 1 ounce sweet vermouth, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, maraschino cherry (for garnish). Stir with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Add cherry.

In addition to the Manhattan Cocktail, try one of these delectable potables:


Bronx Cocktail — 2 ounces gin, 1/4 ounce sweet vermouth, 1/4 ounce dry vermouth, 1 ounce fresh orange juice, orange bitters to taste, orange twist (for garnish). Shake with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Add orange twist. (Recipe from The Joy of Mixology by Gary Regan)


Brooklyn Cocktail — 2 ounces rye or blended whiskey, 1 ounce dry vermouth, dash of maraschino liqueur, dash of Amer Picon. Shake with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. (Recipe from Field Guide to Cocktails by Rob Chirico) NOTE: If you cannot get hold of Amer Picon (not available in the U.S.), substitute Torani Amer or Punt y Mes.


Queens Cocktail — 1 ounce gin, 1 ounce dry vermouth, 1 ounce sweet vermouth, 1 ounce pineapple juice. Shake with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. (Recipe from barbug.com)


Staten Island Ferry — 2 ounces Malibu rum, 2 ounces pineapple juice. Pour rum and pineapple juice in a highball glass filled 2/3 with ice. Stir. (Recipe from wikipedia)
