Welcome to Our Around the World Trip

Please join us on our grand adventure.  We will be traveling the world for 6 months, leaving Seattle, Washington, January 30, 2008.  Our journey will take us from the tropical jungles and beaches of Southeast Asia to the majestic peaks of the Himalayas.  We will witness cremations on the Ganges, explore the great pyramids of Egypt, look for the Trojan horse in Troy, climb to the top of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and stroll down the Champs-Elysées.  Our goal is to experience various cultures by meeting local people while exploring their beautiful homeland.  We will be moving along in the true spirit of budget travel, staying in local guesthouses and hostels along the way.  When traveling, there are 2 basic philosophies with regard to wardrobe; 1)  You can stay in a city for a week and take 7 different changes of clothing, or 2)  You can take 1 change of clothing and move to 7 different cities.  Since each of us will be carrying the things we need for 6 months in back packs, packing light is essential, so it looks like we will be employing option #2.  Except for cleaning the house, completing finals week at school, stocking the refrigerator and pantry for those holding down the fort, going to soccer tournaments and swimming meets, saying good bye to our wonderful family and friends, and packing, I think we are nearly ready.  After all, it’s the journey we seek.
