These photos are from a November kayak trip to Shackleford Banks with my friend Dee, who lives in NC.  Shackleford Banks, the southern-most of the three barrier islands in Cape Lookout National seashore, is home to 100 - 110 feral horses. This island is approximately nine miles long and half a mile wide. It contains many habitats, only some of which support the horses.
