I

In 1962 David R. Haifley began to see his dream come true: to fulfill the need for a more comprehensive training program for young Christians.

What is now a full 4-year degree college began as a small weeknight class at Grace Bible Church (now Grace Bible Baptist Church). As the young Christians began to grow and graduate from the local high schools, it became apparent that more Bible training was necessary for them if they were to serve as Sunday School teachers and leaders in the church. Some of the first classes those late evenings were Hermeneutics and Basic Bible Doctrines. A diploma was issued at the completion of each course.

In 1966 IFBC saw its first graduating class and the installation of one of its first graduates as an interim pastor at Grace Bible Church. Each year IFBC saw more students and assisted more graduates into the ministry. Then in 1994 the Lord saw fit to call David Haifley home, and one week later the Grace Bible Church board asked his son Daniel Haifley, a graduate of IFBC, to become the pastor of the church and the president of the school.

Continuing the dream of his father, Daniel Haifley expanded the curriculum in 1998 to include a four-year degree in theology, and has led the church in a complete renovation project of the current facilities. In 2001 new land was purchased for the expansion and growth of the church and school. In 2002 IFBC introduced an extensive aviation program in partnership with one of the nation’s leading pilot training facilities. We are now able to offer a sequence of computer science courses in conjunction with a growing computer firm in our area. Three new majors have also been added to our curriculum. Future plans include a dormitory, a comprehensive textual research library, a masters and doctorate program, as well as an innovative off campus curriculum.

From its formation, IFBC has been a local church ministry seeking to train people from other local churches to serve in the local church. Students attending IFBC will receive hands-on training as what is being taught in the classroom is put into action in the church. The many ministry opportunities at Grace Bible Baptist Church include Jail Visitation, Nursing Home Services, Door to Door Calling, & Bus Routes. As students prepare for the ministry they will be involved in the ministry. We are a local church school with a local church emphasis.
