is pleased to announce the

Parish Mission Leaders Training Program

Beginning in January 2008, a series of training events will become available in various areas of North America to equip individuals, both Clergy and Laypersons, to be certified as “Parish Global Mission Leaders”.  This program will give them both the experience and skills to establish or strengthen the Local Outreach and Global Mission program of a church, whatever its size.

Requirements for Certification as a Parish Global Mission Leader include:

  1. A love for Jesus and a desire to follow him into the world.

  2. A desire to help your church become fully engaged in God’s grand Global Mission.

  3. Experience in leadership in a local parish and the endorsement of parish leadership.

  4. The ability to invest several weeks over a year for training and to participate in a Short-Term Missions trip.

The Program includes 4 training components:

  1. Pathlight Toward Global Awareness© Course (formerly the Perspectives Exposure’ class)

  2. ServantPrep© Seminar for Short Term Mission Leaders

  3. Participation in a short-term missions trip using the ServantPrep© program in the training process.

  4. Parish Mission Mobilizers Seminar (For completion of the Certification process each of the above components may require completion of additional reading and/or reporting assignments.)

As Jesus prepared his disciples by both instruction and experience, this PML (Parish Mission Leaders) program will include both teaching and experience.

The 5-week PathLight Toward Global Awareness© Course will give you a brief overview of the biblical, historical, cultural and strategic components of Global Mission and challenge your level of commitment.

The 2½ day ServantPrep© Seminar will give you ‘hands-on’ preparation for training and leading a team to go into a new cultural setting as servants and learners.

Your Short-Term Missions Experience will test how well you have learned to follow Jesus as a servant and learner in a new cultural setting.

The 1½ day Parish Mission Mobilizers Seminar will prepare you to assess the current strengths of an existing outreach program and learn how to build a strong, growing, and long-lasting mission aware-ness and participation program that can strengthen the life of a parish in every area of growth and ministry.

The Cost

The cost for the program will be covered jointly by the participant, their sponsoring church and the church structure sponsoring the regional program.  Since both Path-Light© and ServantPrep© are ongoing programs used in other settings they each have set program fees – [$100 for Pathlight© and $170 (+ travel, room and board) for ServantPrep©]. The cost of the STM trip will vary depending on the individual trip costs.  The cost per individual for the Mobilizers Seminar will be $100 and the registration cost for certification will be $80.  Total cost for 2008 = $450.
