SuperDeluxe
In 2002, Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham (Klein Dytham architecture, or KDa) together with artists and designers David Duval-Smith and Michael Frank (Namaiki), Mike Kubeck and Atsushi Imuta created SuperDeluxe as place for independent artists to facilitate and exhibit cross-platform work incorporating sound, video, dance, theatre or virtually any means of expression. SuperDeluxe’s nightly program provides a vibrant and ever-changing forum of creativity and is also the birthplace of Klein and Dytham’s "PechaKucha Night." Chosen as one of Time magazine's 'Best 100 Spots in Asia," SuperDeluxe is a great place to try Tokyo Ale, one of the city's best microbrews, see an art show or even enjoy a heady club night. The creme de la creme of Tokyo's creative brains come here and with so much gathered into one vibrant center, you're bound to find something you like.
Rinpa Eshidan
Since the group's first breakthrough video went viral on YouTube in 2006, Tokyo-based Art collective Rinpa Eshidan has been creating "motion paintings" and commercial films that have earned the group fierce notoriety in the global art scene. With over 40 million collective hits worldwide, Rinpa's signature style is recognized and emulated the world over.
"Rinpa" is a word created by the founders of the group meaning "to bring people together, while "Eshidan" essentially means "art crew." Rinpa Eshidan is a team of artists brought together by a common creative expression. Instead of focusing on the finished project, we believe the process of creation itself is where art comes to life and our videos aim to engage our audience in that process.
