*If you looked at the full results from round four and noticed a default loss for Bob Smith, he turned up to the round 3 minutes late. Their are new rules at this years Olympiad including a funny points system and no being late.

Results

The 72nd seeded New Zealand Open Team of Murray Chandler, Russell Dive, Bob Smith, Roger Nokes & Stephen Lukey are 97th out of 154.

The 76th seeded New Zealand Women's Team of Helen Milligan, Sue Maroroa, Judy Gao, Vivian Smith & Natasha Fairley are 62nd out of 114 just ahead of much higher seeded Australia on 63rd spot.

The Olympiad had many mismatches with the new paring system, New Zealand for example played Ukraine in round eight. The new Match Point system needs to be examined closely, was the Game Point system better.

Round Eleven

Last Round Olympiad games last chance for Match Points. The Women's Team get their Match Points with 3 wins and a draw while the Open team have a hard time with Brazil. Murray Chandler wins his game with his two passed pawns looking strong, others in the team lost so one Game Point no Match Points.

Round Ten

Turkey seeded 50 is to strong for the New Zealand Open Team. The Women's Team won on all boards.

Round Nine

Vivian Smith was the only New Zealander to win in round nine. Mike Earle is at the Olympiad to watch the games, apparently he was asked to play for the Papua New Guinea Team, But preferred to be a spectator.

Round Eight

New Zealand team who do not have Grandmasters on every board, played the Ukraine Team seeded 2nd! What is New Zealand doing up on board five? Chandler played Ivanchuk! No miracles today so we go down to board fourteen to play Georgia for round nine.
