Contemporary artists and art students in Nepal have little opportunity to travel but want to extend their horizons and visual experience.
In 2007, with the generosity of friends and the Friends of the Royal Over-Seas League, over 800 art books and DVDs were collected for Kathmandu University’s Art Department. These were sent to Nepal with the help of the British Council.

Book/DVD list
Art history
Western Art from Ancient Greece to contemporary sculpture and painting. Asian Art from ancient China and traditional Islamic to modern Japanese. The cultures of South America and Africa and other important civilizations.
Film, documentaries, multimedia
Independent films (only Hollywood and Bollywood films are easily accessible in Nepal) documentaries, interviews/ programmes on artists, artists videos,documentaries and videos.
Drawing/ painting/ sculpture/ printmaking techniques and anatomy
Books, DVDs and magazines on oil painting, acrylic, watercolour, pastel, gouache, poster colour, mixed media, collage, charcoal, pencils, plaster mold making, woodcarving, metal casting, wax modeling, stone/marble, welding, ceramics, gilding/restoration, metal-forging, blacksmithing and carpentry. All forms of printmaking, including etching, lithography and screen-printing. Human and animal anatomy.
Film, Photography, Computer Art/ Graphic Design
DVDs and books on the methods and techniques of digital photography, 35 mm photography, darkroom techniques. Technical books on animation, computer hardware and software. Design magazines and books, elements of design, colour compositions, illustration.
Modern Art
Artists catalogues, installations, multimedia, videos etc. Museum catalogues, exhibition catalogues Artists monographs Art and Design magazines. DVDs and videos on artists and art documentaries.
