WoodwardMUG Meeting Information

Our meetings take place in the Woodward School Katherine Bacon Library, although it is small quarters for our expanding membership, standing right now at 47 members. We usually meet twice a month during lunch and our midday "study" period, 11:20-12:20. You are welcome to bring your lunch, or watch for eNews announcements concerning our famous "Lunch Buffet", our code name for ordering lunch from local restaurants. Get your lunch reservation in the day before to be sure you are included, as our "Lunch Meetings" are quite complicated to run, and we could use a break.

Activities

The 2008-2009 year of the WoodwardMUG Computer Club at The Woodward School is winding down. Lots of exciting happenings took place with both in-person and iChat AV video conferencing guest speakers. Fundraisers focused on our annual barbecue party and our vending machines in the cafe with 100% of profits going towards the purchase of new computers for the lab. If you’d like to help keep them filled with drinks and snacks next year, sign up in the lab.

During 08-09 our fundraising efforts allowed us to purchase another new iMac and a MacBook for our mobile podcasting studio.

The WoodwardMUG Podcast Team has resumed production of podcasts. If you are interested in participating, please stop by the lab and sign up.

Visit our Meeting News BLOG to view all of our activities for the last six years!

Who may become a member of WoodwardMUG?

All students, faculty, and staff of The Woodward School are welcome to become members of our group. Also, friends and family members of our school community are welcome to join us as full members. Just stop by the computer lab and add your name to our membership list.

What do you do at meetings?

  1. Participate in presentations by guest speakers from the computer industry.

  1. Talk about the latest Apple and PC news, and new software.

• Inform members about new software that is being released, from product description and review, to where to buy it.

• Discuss problems that people are having with their computers at home, even PCs. Members try to troubleshoot and make helpful suggestions on what to try to correct the problem, and suggest Internet resources.

• Demonstrate software in the Computer Lab.

  1. Students in our Advanced Computer classes: HTML and Web Design, Digital Presentation, and Podcasting, take the opportunity to show off their completed projects and works in progress.
