BRC Mission Statement
While the primary goal of our program will be to produce the highest quality of rowing, generating maximum speed and medals on the water, our coaching staff also recognizes the importance of the BRC rowing experience in developing a lifelong passion for the sport. Significant in this process is the advancement of each athleteʼs character, commitment, and ability to generate a positive and cohesive team atmosphere throughout the summer – one where athletes tenaciously compete on the water while giving the ultimate respect for the commitment and work ethic of others. Fundamental to this development is the focus on character, pride and team unity (an atmosphere that is critical considering the short amount of time we have together).
2009 Boston Rowing Club
After a three year hiatus, the 2005 Boston Rowing Club Juniors re-established themselves as one of the premiere summer rowing clubs in the United States. The 2005 season saw BRC crews post outstanding results at the Independence Day Regatta, Cromwell Cup, and Royal Canadian Henley. The summer was highlighted by a CRH title in the Junior 4+.
In 2006 BRC again demonstrated depth and speed at US Club Nationals, Cromwell Cup, and Royal Canadian Henley. The 2006 summer was highlighted by BRC placing 1st and 3rd in the Junior 8+.
In 2007, BRC’s tradition of excellence continued with a strong second at US Nationals followed by a second Royal Canadian Henley title in the junior men’s eight. Perhaps more emblematic of BRC’s depth was the second and third eights placing third and fourth, respectively.
BRC 2008 brought the program to new heights with a Club National Championship and a 3rd place in the Men’s Junior 8+; a 2nd in the Men’s Junior 4+; and a 2nd and 4th in the Men’s Junior 2-. At Royal Canadian Henley, BRC took an unprecedented first, second, and third in BOTH the Men’s Junior 4+ and 8+; 4th in the Men’s Junior 2-; and was awarded the Efficiency Trophy, given to the program with the highest percentage of points scored relative to entries. To say the summer of 2008 was an unqualified success is an understatement.
Moving forward, BRC plans to continue its focus on men's junior rowing. Of course, the mission of BRC will remain the same: Expose athletes to outstanding coaching and competition as well as foster character development through sport.
