Gouged cane is profiled with a Pfeifer single barrel profiler which cuts cane to measurements just slightly thicker then that of a finished reed.  This is to allow for natural inconsistencies of density that occur in all bassoon cane.  Minimal scraping is require to finish a reed that comes from this wonderful profiler.  Tube length is cut to 28mm, but can easily be changed to match your personal preference.
