We heard about some other hand dug wells (called “norias de buques” locally). We headed to San Isidro (17 miles from HQ) and found the ruins of the old town of San Isidro. Sure enough, there were a couple buques. We noticed they were located above ground with different compartments and troughs coming off of them. We think that our well has been buried to ground level by the migrating sand terrain. So, we are going to take a small backhoe and excavate around the well. Stay tuned.
