Through Catherine’s Eyes

I watched a fabulous dvd the other night called, The 11th Hour, the link is below for their website.

Besides the mass of incredible information this movie included, there were two major points that stuck in my mind. The first was from David Suzuki, who commented on the urgency people have to ‘save the planet’ but he says the planet will still be here, it is we the people who will be extinct.

The second point was regarding trees. I always knew that trees were critical to the air we breathe, they clean it and give us back oxygen. They do it for free. But the one point made, which I didn’t know, is the enormous amount of water trees suck up like a sponge, during potential floods etc.

As long as people see themselves as separate from nature, we are not going to create an environment that is healthy for us all. I think it is quite evident that nature can get along without man, but we cannot live without nature. It is that change in attitude that is needed in order to begin to create a better world. I highly recommend this movie. No matter if you believe in man-made or nature made global warming, the earth is changing and it has no choice but to clean up our mess, since we won’t. Any good mother will clean up after her neglecting children, she might not like it, but she’ll do it... Mother Earth seems to be no different!
The earth was here before I came, and it will remain long after I’m gone, but in the meantime, I will care for her and she will care for me...let our touch be gentle
