We’re generally known as RAD. We work with youth and whanau in our area, in collaboration with other groups. We lease an office building and meeting space in downtown Rawene, which we’re developing as a community meeting and activity space. We’re also in partnership with the Rawene Primary School to develop school facilities and grounds as a focus for community activities. As part of this venture we have moved a building onto the site, to replace the hall that burnt down in May 2006, upgraded the swimming pool, and have funding in hand to upgrade the ten
nis/netball courts. The playing fields will also be developed. We also have use of a run-down hall and a couple of hectares of land owned by the Far North District Council, close to the school grounds. The hall is used as a fitness centre. We have completed a

Community Needs Survey, and are following this up with a feasibility study to determine the size, type, location and purpose of the facilities needed.
