Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party
Tickets for “Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party”
are on sale and and I already have mine.
Here’s the dates: September 5, 9, 12, 16, 19, 23, 26, 28, 30
October 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 13, 16, 19, 21, 23, 24, 26, 28, 30, and 31
So why am I talking about the Halloween party already? For one thing, you’d better be booking your trip at this point if you want to go, and for another, it’s cool. The “Boo to You” parade is the best parade I’ve ever seen at WDW, and the fireworks are spectacular.
The whole Magic Kingdom is decorated for the party and there are trick or treating opportunities all over the place with characters who are dressed in Halloween costumes.
But the best thing, the absolute best thing about the party is seeing the other party guests. Lauren and I decided to dress up and loved the idea right up until the moment it was time to leave our room at the Polynesian in our costumes. She was Tinkerbell and I was the Blue Fairy, and we liked these costumes but all of the sudden felt really stupid in them. What if we were were the only adults dressed up?
We weren’t.
Not only were a lot of other adults dressed in costumes, their costumes were way better than ours. Before we even left the resort we saw the Evil Queen from Snow White and the Witch that she turned into. We saw whole families dressed as pirates and Dads (quite a few actually) dressed as Prince Charming. Somebody email me and tell me how they got their husband to agree to this - did you drug him? Just curious.
The best was a couple dressed as ghosts from the Haunted Mansion. They looked so good they may actually have been ghosts from the Haunted Mansion - they were pretty scary looking. They were wearing 19th century clothes and the cloth and their skin were both a weird, translucent white that made them look as if they could disappear into thin air at any moment.
We think we may have convinced Brian to come with us this year by telling him about the “Sexy Snow Whites”, the “Sexy Alice in Wonderlands” and the “Sexy Cinderellas” we saw - young women who skanked up the classic characters with short skirts and garter belts. (I heard some disapproving comments from some of the moms in the park, but none from any dads.)
So our rooms are booked and the tickets have arrived - all I need is the costume and I want to come up with something good this year. I’m thinking about a couple of Harry Potter characters but probably should stick with Disney. Here are the ones I’m considering so far - what do you think? Should I be Dolores Umbridge?
or Sybill Trelawney?
Or I could probably just concentrate on making a better Blue Fairy costume - I’m sure nobody could tell that’s who I was supposed to be last year and I really like her.
All of the age appropriate characters for me are villains - figures. I’ll probably have to go with someone like her.
No “Sexy Cinderella” for us 50 year olds - although that would be pretty scary... I’ll let you know what I decide, but in the meantime, your opinions and ideas are welcome.
