The Final Word on the Refillable Mug
Walt Disney World’s refillable mug, the source of bitter controversy throughout the Disney faithful worldwide, is a plastic mug like the one above that can be purchased at your WDW resort for about $12.00.
On that we can all agree.
The knock down drag out fights occur when the terms of use of said mug are discussed. Can you use the mug on subsequent visits to WDW and can you use it at locations other than your resort?
The definitive answer from WDW is “ No! “
I have just gotten off the phone with “Mary” (we’ll call her that - she did not want to be quoted in my blog, fancy that! ) from Walt Disney World customer service and she went to the manual, the official WDW manual for the official WDW position and it is:
Refillable mugs are good for the length of stay and only at the resort at which it was purchased. New mugs must be purchased on subsequent visits.
It’s still a good deal. For the length of your vacation you can have unlimited refills of coffee, soda, ice tea, and hot chocolate and you don’t have to purchase anything to get your refill - just waltz right into your resort’s food court and fill-er-up.
They used to make different mugs for each resort like this one:
That’s Buddy with the Polynesian mug. I have other mugs from the Contemporary, the now defunct Dixie Landings, and the one from the top of the page that is nondescript.
If you plan on drinking beverages at your resort buy the mug. Bring it home and drink your coffee in it every morning like I do for a little blast of WDW when you are a thousand miles away.
But don’t reuse that refillable mug on your next trip to WDW. It is verboten. Now I hereby declare this the official, final word and
this case is closed!!!!!!
