Vegetarian at Walt Disney World - Tokyo Dining
I hadn’t had a meal in the Japan Pavilion at WDW since Lauren was six years old and I got terrible food poisoning at the hibachi restaurant. I guess I hold a grudge.
I probably wouldn’t have ever returned and found the new restaurant (new to me anyway. It opened in 2007) Tokyo Dining and I wouldn’t have a new place favorite place for lunch if it hadn’t been for Brian. He was coming to WDW with us and we were just trying to accommodate his delicate palate and avoid wishing that we hadn’t let him come. I’m kidding. A little.
Brian loves sushi and sashimi and I read a couple of good reviews so I decided to try it. First of all it’s a beautiful space and the servers told us that it is a pretty authentic representation of a restaurant in Tokyo. It is bright and modern and completely devoid of hidden mickeys. The floor to ceiling windows look out to the rest of World Showcase and I imagine it would be a perfect place to have dinner during the fireworks.
All of the servers we have met have been really lovely young Japanese girls that are extremely friendly and like to chat. That’s the thing I just love about World Showcase; if you like, you can get to know people from all over the world.
And for a vegetarian, the food is so good. I am hooked on the tofu salad with ginger dressing.
I get that, edamame and vegetable croquettes - I love them!
Oh yeah and the sushi’s great too, according to Brian. Lauren got some vegetarian sushi (I hate seaweed) and Brian had 3 glasses of sake. I encouraged that because I knew he would enjoy riding “Soarin’” afterwards so much more with the little buzz.
Here’s a link to the menu at Allears. Enjoy! But not too often. I don’t want to have trouble getting a table there.
