Good Girls Went Wild at Chef Mickey's
The character breakfast at Chef Mickey’s is kind of like an elementary school rave - hundreds of little kids dancing, singing, yelling, and all of them seem either medicated or in need of their meds, I can never tell which. It really is quite the spectacle.
The buffet is just awful but I still recommend it to serious Disney fanatics. After all, it’s dinner with Mickey, Minnie and Goofy in the classic Contemporary Resort with the monorail whizzing overhead. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like it. And I would have been very sad if anything or anyone (Patty and Lauren) had gotten us kicked out or banned.
Lauren has always been a great lover of Disney, but obviously I underestimated her 15 year old sarcasm and irreverence when I suggested we take her friend Patty to Chef Mickey’s.
It appeared upon arrival that Patty and Lauren had scored some of whatever it was the 6 year olds were on, because they immediately began displaying erratic behavior, and of course I initially thought they were just being enthusiastic. They twirled their napkins, stomped their feet, and “Woo-hooed” For about a minute I thought “Great! They are having fun!”
And then Minnie came out to dance around and greet the diners. Had I have been paying attention I might have noticed the silent agreement between the two girls, but by the time Patty shouted, “Take our picture Mrs. Passell!” and threw me her camera, it was too late.
The two of them leapt out of their seats and began dancing with Minnie, a wild frenzied slam dance that surrounded Minnie and sent the 6 year olds running back to their tables and their horrified moms. Even with that big Minnie head you could so tell that Minnie was really shocked. Honestly, I wish I had been able to collect myself and take the picture, but I was a little shocked myself and remained paralyzed in my seat.
It really didn’t last very long, Minnie’s handlers came scurrying out and hurried her out of the dining room. Lauren and Patty were laughing their heads off and yelling at me for not getting the shot. Luckily no one said anything to us about it, but things were a little quieter in there for the rest of the meal.
PS - Brian doesn’t think this entry is funny at all. Maybe you had to be there...
