Throw Out Your Camera
The best new (or relatively new) thing at Walt Disney World for lazy folks like me is “Disney’s Photo Pass”. I kind of hate carrying a camera around the parks anyway, so this is the greatest thing. I mean, I see those people who photograph and videotape every little thing (including entire rides and put them on youtube) God bless them (and by the way thank, you people who put those videos on youtube because I love watching them) but I am not one of those people.
Here’s how it works. The first time you enter a park, look for one of those WDW photographers and ask him to start you a PhotoPass - they’re free. He’ll scan if for you and then take your picture (if it is when you first enter you’ll have the Castle in the backdrop at the Magic Kingdom, Spaceship Earth at EPCOT, the big tree at Animal Kingdom, or that ugly sorcerer’s hat at Disney Studios) and then he’ll give you the pass. It looks like a park pass and you pull it out every time you see a photographer in a place you want a picture, like with characters and in scenic spots. Up to this point it’s all free.
Then, when you get home, go to disneyphotopass.com, enter the code on the back of the pass, and there you’ll have them, all of your photos, ready for you to peruse, edit, and order. You can even order photo books, cards, and CDs. I believe that they are working on linking the ride photos to PhotoPass, but they aren’t there yet.
It’s fabulous!
One downfall - I always want them all and end up buying too many of them and spending too much money, but I suppose Disney was counting on that.
