Helpful Money Spending Tips
Enough with the money saving tips - everybody has those. I’m something of a self-taught money spending expert and have some ideas about how throwing around a little cash here and there can make your WDW vacation more fun and less stressful.
My Top 10 Money Spending Tips
1) Become a Hertz #1 Gold Card Member for $60 a year and every time you rent with Hertz (every location, not just Orlando) and take the shuttle from the airport you’ll be dropped off first, in a special part of the lot. There’ll be no lines, no paperwork, no nothing - except your car waiting for you, a sign with your name right over it, and the keys in the ignition.
2) Arrange a surprise for the kids with giftsofalifetime.com . Jane at giftsofalifetime.com will decorate your room for Halloween, arrange birthday surprises or a treasure hunt in the park, take candid pictures of you and your family, and much much more
3) Get your ears and your autograph books before you leave home. No better way to work your kids into a pre-trip frenzy than to call 407-363-6200 or email wdw.mail.order@disneyworld.com and order Mickey ears, autograph books for character autographs, EPCOT passports or lots of other things that they sell in the parks before you leave home.
4) Arrange a fireworks cruise by calling (407)-WDW-PLAY. Book a pontoon boat, driver, drinks, snacks, cake and take a cruise out into the middle of 7 Seas Lagoon to watch the fireworks over Cinderella Castle (EPCOT fireworks cruises also available) while you celebrate a birthday or propose marriage.
5) Stay on-site and hop. I know you can save money by staying off-site and by doing without the park hopper option and only going to one park a day, but it makes the trip so much nicer if you go can go to a park in the morning, easily get back to your resort for a nap and/or swim, and then head out to another park in the evening.
6) Have dinner at Victoria and Albert’s. It’s a real extravagance, for sure, but maybe one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in my life - anywhere.
7) Make a music video at Pleasure Island ‘s Superstar Studios. You can make a fool of yourself in front of many people by recording your own CD or music video. I will not be sharing my cover of “Vision of Love” with you.
8) Get a tattoo, a henna one, at the Morocco pavilion at EPCOT’s world showcase.
9) Take surfing lessons at Typhoon Lagoon before it opens to the public in the morning. (Call 407-WDW-PLAY for reservations.)
10) Have a characteture portrait done at one of the many locations around the property, like the one above that Lauren and I had done. Tell them to make you Disney characters like we did. (Tink and Alice if you can’t tell.)
Now, open up that wallet and have a great time!
