Wellesley Lacrosse Runs Race for the Cure

The Wellesley College lacrosse team recently ran in the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure held on the campus of UMass-Boston.
Wellesley head lacrosse coach Julie McPhee saw the race as an opportunity for the team to accomplish two goals; one to support the Susan G. Koman cause and two, for each team member to challenge herself in the race and go beyond her comfort zone.
“Most importantly, we wanted to support the fight against breast cancer since it is a disease that effects so many women and touches many lives,” said McPhee. “The race environment was very inspirational as we were surrounded by breast cancer surivivors and supporters of the cause.”
The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is a series of 5K runs/fitness walks that raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.
Wellesley lacrosse will open the 2008 season on Saturday, March 8 with a home match against Colby-Sawyer at 1:00 pm.
