In April, I filmed 8 British Army recruits on an expedition in Nepal and produced video clips for regular updates on the internet.

Apart from the stunning scenery and the experience of high altitude mountaineering, I really enjoyed the team work with my colleague Simon Atkins. We managed to tackle the technological challenge of filming, editing and uploading videos with a portable satellite dish up to 5600 m altitude and sometimes temperatures below -30 C.
Internet, mobile phone and satellite technology is clearly revolutionising the flow of information around the world. It breaks the monopolies of incumbent media organisations. I hope it will eventually break the information blackout of dictatorial and corrupt regimes and help to expose their crimes.
