Sawyer Takes Third Win

June 14, 2008

Bakersfield’s Robby Sawyer captured his third win in the Super Street Division Saturday night at Bakersfield Speedway.  Sawyer won earlier in the season at Santa Maria and Bakersfield.

Fourteen cars showed up to compete in the East vs West Super Street Series.  Sawyer qualified fifth at 15.036.  The draw for starting position of the main event placed Sawyer’s #98 on the outside front row with Bakersfield’s Mike Corwin #1N starting on the pole.   When the green flag fell for the evening’s main event Sawyer  took the lead into the first turn and never looked back.  Robby Sawyer lead all thirty laps of the main event  pulling away from the field with over a straight away lead.  The main event  had no yellow flags which opened up Sawyer’s lead. Sawyer’s biggest obstacle of the evening came in the final  laps when he had to work around lapped traffic.

I was just cruising and waiting for someone, Sawyer stated in his Victory Circle Interview.  Robby went onto thank his sponsors, family and friends for their support and told his Dad Happy Father’s Day during the interview.

Robby would like to thank his pit crew for all there help tonight. The guys really had to scramble and do some major work on the car tonight.  Bruce, Bob, and Ken....the team thanks you.

Robby Sawyer is the current points leader for the Super Street Division at Bakersfield Speedway and is currently tied for first in the East vs West series with the #2 of Darrel Hood.  The Super Streets are off for two weeks with their next race being  “Bottoms Up” - 100 lapper on July 5th.
