Bakersfield’s Robby Sawyer concluded the evening’s main event  at Bakersfield Speedway with a third place finish.  The finish has put him in first place in the Super Street Division Points Title and a contender in the run for the Championship.

There are now a possible five drivers within four points of each other competing for the Bakersfield Speedway Super Street Championship.  The current points are as follows: Sawyer #98, 364; Cimental # 17, 362; Dotson #74, 362; Hood #2, 360; Randolph #04, 360.

The thirty-lap main events saw 14 cars start and Robby Sawyer started in the eighth position.   The field took the green for only two laps when the first yellow was thrown as the #00 spun in turn one.  The green was thrown again and Dotson and Randolph battled for first, Sawyer and the #38 of Sylvester raced back and forth for third and fourth position. On lap eight Sylvester took over third moving Sawyer back to fourth.  A yellow flag was thrown on lap twelve when Tina McGowen spun in turns three and four.  On the restart the starting order would be 74, 04, 38, and the lapped car, and Sawyer.   When the green fell again they ran one more lap when another yellow flag was thrown because of the #2 of Darrel Hood losing a wheel in the turn two corner.   Hood pitted and would return to the track before the green flag would fly once again. Sawyer worked around the lap car and on lap 17 another yellow came out because of the #5 spinning in turn two.  The restart running order was 74, 04, 38, 98.  On the restart Sawyer made his move and passed the #38 of Sylvester taking over the third spot.  Sawyer and Sylvester would pass each other a few more times as Randolph and Dotson ran side- by- side battling for first.  The final laps of the race displayed some great racing as all of the top four drivers ran nose-to-tail every lap.  The final top five finishers were 74, 04, 98, 17, and 00.

The Super Streets Race again in the East vs West Series next weekend at Santa Maria.  Sawyer currently sits second in the points chase for East vs West just thirteen points behind Darrel Hood.
