The Don Roberts  Memorial Race Saturday night at Santa Maria Speedway had 15 Super Streets show up for the weekends event.  The fifty-lap main event would have only fourteen cars start after one dropped out due to mechanical problems.

The agenda for the evening would add a trophy dash to the show with the first four fastest qualifiers.  The four lap shoot out saw an inverted qualifying start with Sawyer on the pole and the #74 of Larry Hood starting on the outside.  Hood took the win with Sawyer finishing second.

Sawyer sat on the pole of the fifty lap main event that saw 14 cars start.  Sawyer  ran second most of the race with the 04 of Randolph leading the race after starting outside front row of Sawyer.  The fifty lap event saw several cautions but the last ten laps had the most action as drivers swapped positions.  After a yellow on lap 44 Sawyer  fell back to third and the #74  began to pressure the #04  of Randolph.   Randolph, Hood, and Sawyer raced on the skirt tails of each other allowing no room for error by the drivers.  The #38 of Nick Sylvester was holding the fourth position.  But another caution would tighten the pack and when the Super Streets took the green there was three laps to go.  Sawyer made an attempt to run the low groove going into turn three so he could  move himself in a position to pass.  However Sawyer spun the car in the corner of the turns.   Sawyer accelerated onto the front stretch only to have two laps to go until the checkered fell.  Sawyer finished ninth because of the spin and will now move forward to next weekends race at Bakersfield Speedway.

Sawyer sits in second place - 416 - in the East vs West Series at 13 points behind the #2 of Darrel Hood -  429.
