MARCH 2, 2008

After three years of racing pavement and Irwindale Speedway Robby Sawyer returned to racing dirt at Bakersfield Speedway. The team came back out with a new car, new color, and new sponsors -- Triple E Trucking and Safety NETWORK and one of their  Irwindale Sponsors staying on board for dirt -- BJs Restaurant and Brewhouse in Bakersfield.  The team was really excited when the local BJs came on board for racing at the Speedway.  We love the food and the hospitality our team receives there after the races.

The new car was built from the ground up at the Sawyer Race Shop. Crew Chief and car builder Kelly Sawyer said he used the same chassis set up and ideas from the previous car that Robby raced in 2004. The 2004 car earned Robby the Super Street Championship in addition to taking home 13 wins that year with 21 top fives.

Robby Sawyer started on the pole of the first Super Street heat race and went onto win the eight lap heat race without any challenges.  Sawyer lost his steering box and struggled with steering problems all evening.

The Super Street main saw twenty two cars starting the race with multiple yellows occurring in the first 15 laps. The main event had an inverted start and Sawyer started fifth row inside. Despite losing his steering Sawyer ran sixth most of the evening. The final ten laps ran under the green flag and Sawyer ended the evening with an 8th place finish.
