Robby Sawyer received the East vs. West Series Hard Charger Award Saturday night after passing eleven cars to pull off a seventh place finish. The Award is done by Sandie Simpkins, East vs. West Organizer, a $50 bonus is given at each E vs W event to the driver who passes the most cars.

The crowd at Bakersfield Speedway Saturday evening became less and less through the evening’s races as weather conditions worsened, a constant drizzle of rain dampened everyone throughout the cold, windy, evening.  Despite the weather  conditions the fans saw a great night of good clean racing as the leaders battled for position in the Super Street Main Event.

The thirty lap  main event had 21 cars starting with Sawyer starting in the eighteenth position.  Sawyer was scheduled to qualify last  in the field but failed to qualify as a result of  a hose coming off the car after pulling out onto the track for qualifying.

The last 17 laps ran full green and the cars began to spread out  on the track with the leaders catching lapped cars.  As Sawyer passed cars moving up positions the laps ran out and Sawyer finished a respectable seventh.  We needed a yellow flag, stated crew Chief Kelly Sawyer, it would have helped us a lot starting that far back but that’s racing and we are happy with the finish.

The next race is APRIL 5TH at KINGS SPEEDWAY IN HANFORD, CALIFORNIA. Directions are provided below. For event information visit the Speedway’s website at www.kingspeedway.net
