“Craftsmanship through Capture”

Special techniques used to create the black & white
Using techniques described in the training book “Capture One - Applied Craftsmanship” I have built 3 different black & white Styles for Capture One. I have been using these styles for the last few months and have become used to the type of light and exposures required to achieve the look that I need.  Using Phase One’s unique “Phase One Effects Panchromatic” profile, I can achieve a consistency of look that requires no channel mixing. Black & white film had unique responses like reds going to a dark gray or black. These could be described as holes in the range of Black & white film. With channel mixing, the tone is continuous so the result is unpredictable in terms of look. The examples in this gallery have not been touched in Photoshop™.

Traveling from Manchester to Sheffield through the mountains supplied some fantastic opportunities. Followed by a terrific drive from Sheffield to London.

The farm county North East of Lake Simcoe provided some terrific opportunities to use black & white style in a conceptual way. The unusual light provides opportunity for color styles as well!
