“Craftsmanship through Capture”

August 2007
An incredible journey - Beyond the DSLR an interview with Neil Latham of Seattle Washington. Neil recently converted to a P 21 from Canon. This is an amazing story because Neil also took the Applied Craftsmanship training manual course we ran in Seattle in May. This is a 3 part article with May, June and July comments. Capture One Software - The essential capture tool - An interview with Paul Ives -  UK photographer Paul Ives shares some terrific experiences, approaches with pricing and marketing ideas. Paul also surprised me since I did not know he had acquired a copy of “Applied Craftsmanship”. His use of the Capture One tools  and the “Applied Craftsmanship” ideas in a real world situation are both terrific and inspirational. San Francisco Seminar - post session email:
Dear Walter,

I was an attendee at the Applied Craftsmanship seminar in San Francisco on June 14th--the guy who didn't bring bring his laptop and whom you did a video interview with post seminar.

I just wanted you to know that I left the seminar completely energized.  The following morning, however, I had an attack of doubt.  Was I sold a bill of goods?  Can you do all this stuff with Aperture, etc.?  You know the drill.

I'm pleased to report, your seminar has completely changed the way I approach my work flow and my clients have taken notice.  It has opened me up to a world of possibilities I was previously unaware of even though I've been using C1 for almost 6 years.  The seminar has more than paid for itself and my clients and I couldn't be happier that I attended.

Here's a quote from a client:

"To me what sets him above his competition is his years of experience and expertise. The knowledge that he brings to each and every project is truly unmatched, especially when it comes to digital photography. He is a photographer whom I know is dedicated to his craft and keeps himself current by seeking out the latest technologies and techniques. Case in point. Recently on a photo shoot with him he showed me a new color adjustment technique that converted green Bartlett Pears to yellow ones. The great part about it was it was done while on set and saved during the digital burning process. This saved me hours of Photoshop time. That was awesome!"

Keep up the great work.  If your ever in my neck of the woods with another seminar, count me in.

Take care, Walter.

Sincerely,

Keith Seaman
