Take Care

Time to show off a new lens, Canon’s 50mm 1.8 prime.  Out of all Canon’s primes this one won out because it is the lightest lens available for a DSLR.  When combined with my Rebel XTi, the smallest and lightest DSLR body, I now have a camera which I am more likely to use.  I realize that size and weight are not usually at the top of the priority list for most people but in my situation, where I’ve lost close to 90% of the range of motion in my hands this is very important.

The image itself is a gun case made by the Dene people of Canada’s Northwest Territories and was a parting gift from my colleagues.  I just figured the beadwork would be a good indication of the DOF of the lense.

Tech stuff: f1.8, 1/250 sec, ISO 200.  Not bad for a lense that cost me $107!   Admittedly, this has undergone some processing but the original was pretty sharp, nonetheless.

Take Care is actually the English translation for the original title Akua Tuta by Kashtin, a native group from Labrador and I have it on Robbie Robertson’s Music For The Native Americans.
