A Mother’s Instinct

You faithful readers of this blog may have picked up on my dissatisfaction with our pediatrician in Charlotte since day one.  Well, that unsettling feeling continued to fester and I finally forced myself to interview some pediatricians to see if a switch was in order.  I am so glad I did.

I have moved Ellie to a new practice and a great doctor who has a daughter only a few months older than Ellie.  Ellie has not had to go for a formal visit yet, but I know that I have made the right decision.  Last week, Ellie had a fever and a virus.  The advice and compassion I received from the nurses at the office gave me more reassurance and assistance than I had ever received from her old practice. They helped listen to my concerns and gave me a plan of attack for symptoms that would warrant a further visit to the doctor.

Because I felt that I could trust the information they gave me and believed that they would be available when they said they would be, we survived the virus without another dreaded visit to the urgent care.  I wish I had listed to my instinct to switch sooner.
