February 20, 2009

Autism Speaks issued a follow up press release on February 20, 2009.  We have confirmed that the additional information requested of the Kansas Insurance Department by Senator Teichman has been provided to her office.


February 18, 2009

Senator Teichman issued a press release expressing her position on Senate Bill 12 which was reported by several area media outlets, including The Lawrence Journal World and the Kansas Health Institute.


January 29, 2009

Senate Bill 12 (Kate's Law) was heard in the Senate Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee on Thursday January 29th.  The room was standing room only and our proponents did a fantastic job presenting our case.  The hearing was covered by both the Kansas Health Institute and the Lawrence Journal World.

CURRENT STATUS OF THE BILL

Hearings for both SB 12 and HB 2367 were held but no further action was taken before the close of the 2009 legislative session. 


The Dillmore motion to pull Kate’s Law from the House Insurance Committee to be debated on the House Floor failed 60 YES, 60 NO, 5 excused or abstained.   See how your Representative voted.


The legislature will reconvene on January 11, 2010.  Both bills are still “alive” and this issue will be taken up again at the start of the 2010 session.
