Virtual Hikes

Google Earth™ is a wonderful free program that allows you to display photos, trails, and other things against a backdrop of high resolution satellite photos. And you can even fly along the route to see the scenery in 3 dimensions! In our area individual bushes are visible. Here is a short guide to using the program: User's Guide.
While hiking I usually keep track of what plants are flowering, and exactly where they are. The information is then turned into a 'virtual hike' in which you can follow the path, click on tags and see what was there. There are not many pictures yet - they will be added later. The attached files contain only text information readable by Google Earth, and are completely safe.
Hint: If you Right-Click on a link it will let you choose a name and place to save.http://earth.google.com/Virtual_Hikes_files/080325%20Google%20Earth.pdfVirtual_Hikes_files/080325%20Google%20Earth_1.pdfshapeimage_2_link_0shapeimage_2_link_1
