After waiting patiently for the prospective buyer, we received a call from our broker, Don Jackson, that Cliff changed his mind and did not want to buy our boat! Warren and I were not surprised by this decision and are glad that we didn’t have to wait until April 30th. So we are on our way up North just like we were planning on doing until this episode! We will leave on Thursday morning, when the wind dies down and head back to St. Augustine again.
I took a shot of this huge manatee taking a drink of water from a hose off a boat. They are in their mating season and the manatees are all over the marina, but I never saw one up close like this one. They say you can pet them, but I was not up to it.
Last night was a beautiful full moon and it was another photo op, so I did my best at capturing the moon over the marina.
We really aren’t upset about the sale of the boat especially knowing that our new Dse won’t be ready until at least July. Now we have a place to live and we still can see the east coast of the country. If we have enough time, we will try and get to the Erie Canal and maybe sell it there or leave it with a boat broker then. I don’t want to think that far ahead, because things are constantly changing and I want to stay in the moment!
Today is Earth Day and we are very excited to be getting the first Green Boat! There is a lot of buzz in the boating community about the Dse, because with fuel prices going up to over $4.00 a gallon, the boats aren’t leaving the marinas. People own these huge boats and just come down on the weekends and sit on them. I guess it feels like a waterfront condo to most of them and it isn’t worth hundreds of dollars to go a few miles out and then turn around and come back! The really big yachts are out, but if you can afford a 110 foot yacht, you really aren’t concerned about the price of fuel. Our new boat will actually go 7 knots without starting the engines. Just on solar energy! That’s amazing, if it works the way it is supposed to, we will have one very popular boat! Warren and I have really gone green already. We conserve water, electricity, and we are not fueling up cars anymore. Our boat right now is pretty efficient and goes about 5 miles to the gallon, some of the other boats about the same size only go 1 mile to the gallon..big difference!
So Deal or No Deal..It doesn’t matter, it’s no big deal to us!
