Not many people create public art anymore. Many of our communities look the same - the same strip malls, shops, parking lots, and uninspiring plants dot the landscape. Murals create art on plain walls and add beauty to communities while giving a sense of pride to everyone active in the creation process. Manny Velazquez painted his first mural when he was 14 years old and has continued to create art in community spaces for 30 years. He is the architect behind the Walls2Canvas project. He understands that young people - whether they are labeled vandals or gangsters - have something positive to give. Murals - and graf art - appeal to young people because of the large surface available on which to create. Follow Manny as he demonstrates how any team of young people can create a mural in their community.
