Youth Ventures - $2,000

The youth were awarded two Youth Venture grants to start up their businesses.
The goal of Bio Motors is to convert a donated school bus to run on vegetable oil instead of dirty diesel -- a known cancer causer and asthma trigger.  The goal is to not only successfully convert the bus, but to collect the oil and use that to power the bus on a regular basis.  In addition, the young people will learn the chemistry behind how vegetable oil powers engines and geneators. The youth will then advocate for wide spread change among bus fleets in the Los Angeles area.

The Walls2Canvas venture will help the youth purchase silk screen equiptment so they can turn their art into shirts, bags, and prints.  The art will give voice to youth issues by youth and will embody the style that feels natural to them -- graf art.
