There are people who have a vision for the future that is pretty bleak...a continuation of the path we are on...an extrapolation of the past 100 years into the next 100 years. It is a sad vision that lacks beauty. Animals under glass. Wildness is gone. People are in pain. Nature is mostly broken.
And there are people with a vision for the future where we've repaired what is broken and understand our place in nature. Where there's not necessarily "balance" but “creative disequilibrium”. Where we have evolved. That is the vision of the future I work for. The one I hope for and fight for. Yet I have the first sort of vision in mind, To scare myself. To keep my fire.
