Up until this week I can honestly say that I didn’t have a favorite filling station. In fact, truth be known, I rather dreaded filling stations...bad food, bad coffee, and petroleum products that pollute our world, corrupt our government and get us mired in wars without end.
But the Pacific Biofuels station is something different. Seriously.
First there’s the fuel: all biodiesel. That’s all they sell B99. Made from plants and it runs in my car, a 1985 Mercedes 300D, smells good and feels good.
Then there’s the place. A filling station with a good clean vibe. The kind of place you just want to stop by to say hi even if you don’t need a fill.
The people working there just seem stoked on the whole thing, rather than the typical minimum wager passing through at the 24 hour Chevron.
And the food: organic and yummy.
And live music and info on the other things we’re thinking about like solar energy and organic gardening.
Yes, having a favorite filling station sounds funny, I agree. But it’s the new reality. Less guilt, less mess, more fun.
Now if we could just take care of the vibe at the county dump and the dentist office...life would be pretty well perfect...
(by the way, both of my girls fell asleep on my lap while driving our biodiesel tractor this past weekend...something about the bouncing, the sound of the engine...the sweet smell...)
