Lisa Spraragen & Josué Pérez joined classical and flamenco forces to form a new high-energy sound. Their repertoire of Flamenco and Latin music brings a sense of freedom to their performances, while the intimacy of two guitars touches audiences on a personal, often nostalgic level.
The duo is known for fiery, spontaneous flamenco as well as a wide range of Latin music. Josué continues to write new pieces for the duo. Puerto Rican selections are also prominently featured, including danzas, the popular songs of Rafael Hernandez, romantic boleros and folkloric styles. Their Latin programs feature Cuban music, Venezuelan vals, Argentinean tango, Colombian pasillo, Brazilian chôro, and pieces by their friend and fellow guitarist, Silas Antonio Santo.
Lisa y Josué have performed throughout the New York area, and around the U.S., in such diverse venues such as the Theater at Madison Square Garden, Brooklyn Museum, the Whitney, the Museum of Modern Art, NY Public Libraries, Pittsburgh Opera Gala and Equitana USA. Their concert series Noche de Guitarras was cited on television PBS CityArts with live performances at CAMI Hall, Bank St. Theater, Henry St. and Aurora Gallery.
