80 Series Tailgate Lid Design Updates:

Finally have a prototype 80 lid coming together. Every thing is looking good so far.
The 80 series shares some of the same construction, but the flange has to be much wider to accommodate the different tailgate construction.
The outer flange needed to be considerably wider than the 60s since the 80 latch is not as low profile. You can see the latch poking out from under the lip in this photo.
I am using the same hardware as the 60 series, with the addition of rubber edge trim to help the new lid seat well with the varying surface of the 80 gate.

The construction details had to be changed from the 60 series, but I am quite happy with the fit, finish and strength.
Function is the same as the 60s, but the 80 lid is cavernous in comparison, the few extra cubic inches seem like acres!
