Heartland Knits
Knitting designer Vicki Sever was born and raised in America’s heartland and named her company for the region. But the name also reflects the feelings she holds for the designs she publishes within the pages of each pattern. Deep in the heart is where ones most special ideas and feelings reside; those things done for pure enjoyment and to lift up the spirit. Through these patterns I hope I’m able to spread my passion about knitting.

Vicki has been knitting for over 20 years and designing for nearly as long. In 2002, after repeatedly hearing requests from knitters wanting to knit some of her pieces, she began began publishing them under the Heartland Knits mantle.  Besides the patterns she independently publishes, her designs have appeared in Vogue Knitting, Interweave Knits, Knitter’s Magazine and the Heel and Toe Gazette, as well as in the Felting book in the Vogue on the Go series. In 2000, she won second place in the Great American Aran Afghan contest, sponsored by Plymouth Yarn Company and Knitter’s Magazine. And, in 2004 she was certified as a Master Knitter by The Knitting Guild Association.

Several years ago Vicki began to spin, both on a wheel and a drop spindle, and it’s become an increasing component of her designs. Other interests include gardening, yoga and baking cookies.
